Compound Paths - Error

Hi All,

I’m in the process of creating some real estate icons as a font. The icons were supplied as vectors so I’m trying to prepare them. I’ve run into trouble with a variation of the icons that require the icon to be filled with a color (top row of the screenshot below). You’ll see that while they’re compound paths (cyan shows through), they don’t import correctly as seen in the Fontself window.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

Hi, there is a historic bug in Illustrator with some compound shapes, and there is a couple ways to solve this:

  • Apply a Unite operation via the Pathfinder panel
  • Or use the Object > Flatten Transparency feature to clean up a shape.

In most cases they should then import properly in Fontself. If it still doesn’t work just send us your AI file to hello@fontself.com
