Im trying to make a perfect vertical grid regardless of whether Im typing a period or a space or an M or I etc. Please see attached image. I achieved this buy making a 2 color font with a perfect square and then making all the kerning the same but After Effects doesnt like the color font.
Whats the easiest way to achieve this with a 1 color font.

What colors do you used? Black and white?
Okay, so you made a color, monospaced typeface. I don’t know what you mean with your question, because it seems to indicate that you’re having trouble with the monospaced side even though you described perfectly what to do. Assuming the issue is with the color: how are you animating and transforming the type? Could you put the type in an AI file, and then bring that into After Effects?
