Creation of a font that simulates Embossed OCRA and B lettering

We are using a function with our Variable Data software to render some of the variable data as an embossed version of OCRA and OCRB. The rendering is done by the Variable data software on the fly, and causes lag time in the ripping process. A lot of it. We are attempting to make a font in illustrator that will replicate the look without the lag time. The font works and prints fine when printed from Illustrator or InDesign. But used in anything but an Adobe product, I get a silhouette of the over letter shape.

So OpenType-SVG color fonts are not yet supported on all apps and older systems. In such cases, a fallback black filled vector fallback shape of your glyphs is displayed.

In which apps do you need them to show up?
