How to make a Font from a digital illustration?

I want to make game icons like this into a font. But converting them to Vector makes them look awful.

Is there a way?

I might be wrong, but maybe the issue is you’re working with Raster/Bitmap artwork. Thus limited by the fact that making color fonts in Fontself Maker for Illustrator CC *(Vector) only supports:

  1. Fill Colors
  2. Stroke Colors
  3. Gradients
  4. Opacity

And the following are Unsupported:

  • Blending Modes
  • Mesh Tool Gradients
  • Bitmap Images *(Raster, not Vector)
  • Color Palettes

So my best guess would be using your Fontself Maker for Photoshop CC *(Raster, bitmaps, such as your artwork).

The Photoshop version works like a dream.
