How to make a grey font?

Hello again.
I found in the web sone fonts, that are not black but grey.
When I try to make my one grey font with C=0, M=0, Y=0, K=50, I will get a color font :frowning: ,
the same will happen, when I use black color and an opacity of 50%.

Is there a trick to get a “black” (non color) font, that is grey?

Standard « non color » fonts are by definition color agnostic, so the only way forward is to make an OpenType-SVG font or manually change color in the host app.
