Trouble Importing

I am creating a family with 4 different weights. I have created an Illustrator doc with 4 art boards, duplicating the FS template. I imported the upper case, first row of glyphs with no issue. I went to import the second row and got this error

" Some guides are not properly named (1/4) Please rename each guide as “Baseline”, “Ascender”, “Descender”, “capHeight” or “xHeight” in your Layers panel.

I have renamed these 3 guides at each “row” of glyphs named, ascender, baseline, descender per this document - https://help.fontself.com/en/articles/900365-set-font-metrics-with-illustrator-guides

However, I cannot import any more glyphs - that error just keeps appearing.

Hi, this error points to a fourth guide, double check in the Layers panel when selecting the shapes.

And we also recommend to use the A-Z button or the Batch button when importing the glyphs to automatically assign the correct character keys to each glyph.

No fourth guide, but do you only import the guides once; that could be the issue since each row in the template had the 3 guides assigned to them.

Also, the import feature only highlights “Any Character” when trying to import items. Whether it is 1, 26, or more this is the only option. When I began using this tool the other 3 options were always available when importing but are no longer.

After today’s Illustrator update, I can’t import anything into Fontself.

I check some of the troubleshooting docs and enabled the SVG support for clipboard and it is now working again. Something between the last version of AI and the updated one went FUBAR. I don’t recall ever checking that support button and have been working with Fontself for quite some time without issue. At least I can get back to work now.

The drop options are contextually enabled based on how many objects you select (26 are needed for the whole alphabet, 10 for numbers) and in your screenshot it only shows 4 selected objets.

FYI Adobe just deactivated a Clipboard Preference in Illustrator’s newest versions, so you must activate the checkbox " Include SVG Code " to ensure Fontself can import your glyphs… Hopefully something they fix soon (or we will patch it in a future update
